WHO ARE WE?
If your BMW has the cassette style key and you have been presented with a yellow or red steering lock notification light on your dash and a message on your centre screen stating, for example “Steering wheel lock malfunction!”, do not ignore this fault warning as it can lead to your vehicle being immobilised and into lock state which would generally require recovery for repair. It is far easier to address this issue before it completely locks down.
The range of vehicles this issue covers are at least the BMW E90, E91, E92, E93, E81, E82, E87, E88, E60, E61, E63 & E64.
If you decided to get this problem looked into by BMW themselves or one of their recognized repairers you will be faced with a quotation and bill for a replacement steering column which with labour will cost roughly £900.
