CITROEN KEY PROGRAMMING
It can happen that your remote fob or the transponder chip in your Citre key can get out of synch with your vehicle, and will need special diagnostic equipment to re-synchronise it once again. A dealership may well charge you for a whole new set of keys, while our mobile technician will use the equipment in his van to reprogram the key right away – and it won’t cost nearly as much as that new set of keys from the dealer.

CAR KEY REPAIR
A damaged car key is not a reliable car key, and there’s every chance that it will choose the least convenient moment to let you down. That said, it’s a simple matter for us to repair it – whether it’s visibly broken on the outside or there’s a mysterious rattle coming from the inside. Either way, when we hand that repaired key over to you, it’ll be as good as the day you first got it – if not better!
CAR LOCK / IGNITION BARREL REPAIR
It can happen that a key blade can snap off while it’s in the car’s door lock and in the process damage it. The same could also happen when the blade is in the ignition barrel. If that happens to you, call us and our technician will remove the broken blade and repair any damage it may have caused – for far less than what a garage or a dealership would charge.
HOW CITROEN KEYS WORK
Not many motorists know that before 1995 car manufacturers didn’t provide keys with transponder chips to reduce the risk of car theft. They work when the vehicle’s immobiliser unit checks the chip when the key is in the ignition. If the chip is recognised because it’s been properly programmed then the car will start. But if the immobiliser unit doesn’t recognise the chip in the key there’s no way the car will switch on. So it’s practically impossible for a thief to steal a vehicle using a key with a matching blade. Citroen vehicles from 1995 onwards are equipped with a coded engine immobiliser, of which there are four different kinds:
STANDARD IMMOBILISER
This is the basic system, where the immobiliser unit antenna picks up the correct transponder signal code when the key is within range.
PASSENGER COMPARTMENT PROTECTION CONTROL UNIT (CPH)
This is the next step up from the standard immobiliser and alarm system, now including central door locking and ultrasonic sensors.
BODY SYSTEMS INTERFACE (BSI)
The Body Control Unit (BCU) comprises the alarm and immobiliser, with control over the vehicle’s functions such as lights, horn, windows, doors, locks, indicators, wipers, boot and more.
CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)
This is a more modern immobiliser system which still depends on the BSI, but instead of communicating through a serial interface it does so through the CAN.
