HOW LEXUS KEYS WORK
Back in the mid-90s it became a legal obligation for motor manufacturers to install an immobiliser system in all vehicles. Since then, every Lexus key has contained a tiny electronic circuit called a transponder chip. The chip is programmed to communicate with the vehicle’s factory-installed immobiliser system when the key is inserted into the ignition barrel. If the system searches for the correctly-coded transponder chip and can’t find it, the fuel supply to the engine is immediately cut off.
If you’ve lost your Lexus key, it’s a simple matter for us to reprogram the immobiliser system to ensure that key will never start your vehicle if it’s ever found again.
